FAQ

Is this only available in the summer?

Cool Cupcake Costume Immersion is available year round! As long as it's safe to commute; there's not a ton of rain or snow, etc., we'll find a day!

How does everything work?

Generally, we'll meet just before Golden Hour at Seahurst Park in Burien. We'll walk to the best spot and take a few photos on land before getting in the water. Then we'll get in and out of the water a few times, each time a bit deeper while changing masks, costumes, food and props. This will also allow us to gradually "warm" up to the cold. The final shot will be going all the way under water, then coming up to eat the cupcake! The whole experience lasts about an hour.

How do people endure the cold? It seems crazy!

It definitely challenges you to step way out of your comfort zone, and the rewards are plenty! As I mentioned above, we get in and out of the water every few minutes and go a bit deeper each time to acclimate to the cold. If you read up on cold water therapy, you'll see that it has many purported benefits.

However, cold water shock is also a thing that occurs for some people, especially those who suddenly submerge their entire body in very cold water.

As with many things in life - please check with a doctor before doing anything that may put you in danger.

How many people can do this?

The minimum number of participants is one. You can book a session for yourself and enjoy the experience solo.

Or, you can bring a friend, partner or family member and have fun together. You can share the cupcakes, and help each other with the costumes and masks. You will also have more opportunities to interact with each other and create memorable photos.

Generally, 1-2 people per session is ideal, but if you have a larger group, you can contact me and we can discuss the possibilities.

I see other food besides cupcakes, what gives?

I will always bring other food and especially love bell peppers. They look so cool with their bright colors against the dark water and often dark sky.

I have a dairy/gluten, etc. allergy.

No problem. I will accommodate all dietary preferences and allergies. Or, you can bring your own as long as I can see it first. It's important that it will look cool in photos!

What do you bring and what do I need to bring?

I will bring masks, hot coffee or hot chocolate, a heated bag to warm up clothes and/or towels, food, props and a camera, of course!

You should bring:

* Towels

* Sandals/flip-flops/something for the water

* Change of clothes

* A sense of humor and adventure!

If you'd like to bring your own masks, which I encourage, please do so! Ideally three different types of masks per person will give us enough variety for many photos. Costumes are also optional, but know they'll be in the water for the most part.

For masks, try Amazon, Etsy or a party supply store.

I also recommend bringing a onesie! This makes it really easy to get out of the water and get warm quick. And the onesie will be in my heated bag making it that much better.

Can I bring my friends? What about my dog?

Friends, no. It's important that I have all of your attention to guide you through the water, poses and expectations.

Dog, yes. If you'd like your dog to be in the water with you, I will do my best to get some fun shots with him/her.

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?

Regarding deposits:

  • 50% of the session fee is due at the time of booking with the remainder due 72 hours before we meet.

My cancellation policy is as follows:

  • If you reschedule less than one week before the scheduled date and time, you will be charged a 25% rescheduling fee and your deposit will be credited to the new date and time.

If we have to cancel due to inclement weather, we'll work together to find a new date and time.

What if you cancel?
